Not difficult to assemble (instructions are OK, but it helps to watch a few YouTube videos first). I found the positioning rod not really useful or needed so I simply didnt install it. It may add some more rigidity to the sled, but I find the sled is already plenty rigid. I installed some T-tracks (from Lee Valley) to serve as rails and I think that this makes a lot of difference. Once adjusted, they provide a very smooth ride for the slide and you dont have any issues with unwanted movement. Moreover, there is something satisfying with the kind of precision you get that way. My T-tracks actually afford two steps so you can regulate the height in that way too if needed (actually quite useful). I only tried it with my DeWalt palm router and it worked really well, but it is important, as I soon learned, to apply some wax to both the router plate and the sled rails. This eliminated all the chatter and made the router slide very smoothly. Once everything was assembled and adjusted, the actual routing was a real pleasure. So rails and waxing do a lot to improve it. I think that this will be a valuable addition to my workshop.
