Q

19 or 20 mm ? how to chose please ? I'm afraid to receive 19mm and it will not be good. I need 20mm. Best regards from France ( here holes are 20mm )

Buy the 20mm diameter, the same size of the holes on your workbench.

I am very pleased with this part. The packaging was great and the product was flawless. Fit perfectly into the dog holes in my workbench and held well.

The packaging is excellent, has foam protection inside the box. No user manual is included. The MFT clamp is an elegant woodworking bench tool made of high quality CNC material. Feels sturdy and durable thanks to the anodized matte finish. Has low, middle and high gear to apply different clamping force according to your needs. It weighs only 233.2g / 8.22oz. I measured an outer and inner diameter of 19.67mm / 0.77 in and 13.65mm / 0.54 in, respectively. The outer diameter measurement meets the specification value (20mm). Mine came with some minor scratches on the uncoated bottom part which don't affect the clamp's perfomance. All my measurements met the manufacturer's size specifications.

Product came in well packaged in foam and well constructed with knurled stainless steel shaft (3-3/8” L) and anodized aluminum clamp body. Well suited for MFT type table with 19mm (3/4”) dog holes.

I have purchased two of these clamps and received them before the estimated delivery date. The packaging is substantial and the clamps arrived undamaged. The clamps are well made and work as expected. They are a new twist on an old idea, the Holdfast which woodworkers have been using for a very long time, see photo. When using the clamp, to get full clamping pressure the clamp must be pushed down hard on the work piece with the cam lever in the reset position. If this is not done the cam has to take up any gap before exerting pressure on the work piece. When the cam exerts pressure on the work piece it causes the knurled shaft in the dog hole to press against the sides of the dog hole. This pressure is only at the top and bottom of the dog hole as the cam tries to rotate the clamp within the dog hole. The knurled shaft does not need to be knurled all the way round as it only bears on the dog hole where it is in line with the clamp arm. If the knurling was only where needed it would make fitting the clamp in the dog hole easier. If the clamp will damage the dog holes over extended use, only time will tell.

Package arrived in very good condition. The clamp is well protected in the foam and carton box. The solid piece of aluminium gives a good first impression. The lever which is acting as a cam for different pressure levels has a bit of friction with the pressure area. I put some PTFE and is ok. The cam is running perfectly parallel to the pressure plate which means pressure is well distributed. One of the 2 bolts is a bit proud of the pressure plate and it will mar the workpiece if in contact. It needs filing. This means taking the other 4 bolts off connecting the steel spring to the main body. The cross hatched pillar is sligtly bigger than 20mm (just shy of 20.1mm) as can be seen in the vernier reading. I guess it will need a bit of light sanding down.
