Mainpower source is 5V from a connector in the back. There is included a cable for connecting it to an USB source. The display will remain off until the 5V is connected. The (included) CR2032 battery is used only to keep time in memory.

I really enjoy this device! It came in a reasonable time, packaging was the original paper box, nothing more than this. I ordered the orange version, it is stylus (to my taste) and the color is as shown in advertisement, but more sweet and warm! The only cons I can find, is: a) when the light sensor is active and the light is slowly rising to the room, the leds power (luminocity) scales up/down until it desides where to stop. It distracts you when you have it in your eye-field. b) It does not give you the option of battery power, only usb. It has a CR2032 battery for keeping the time internaly, but the display will light up only when powercomes from the 5V of the extermal USB power that is not included. It includes, thought, a cable to connect it to a USB charger.
